Text Ticker: Taleb gets angry
Thanks to Joel for pointing out this video of Nassim Nicholas Taleb, who is getting a lot of press these days because he's been warning all along that the economy was resting on a faulty understanding of risk management.
I've been drawn to Taleb for the more metaphysical implications of his economic ideas—a call for some alternative to a society and a mentality that thinks it can manage everything. This is very Heideggerian (minus all the statistical analysis and plus a lot of phenomenological jargon), an observation which I've suggested to Taleb. He replied that he would "take a look."
See, if you like, my earlier discussion of Taleb. [go!]
