Whose Biblical Marriage?

GetReligion, the site dedicated to lambasting coverage of Christians in the media, has a typically angry piece about the new story about the Bible and gay marriage in Newsweek. It does, however, give a solid, concise view on the scriptural basis from which many draw their conceptions of "Christian marriage."

Newsweek's Lisa Miller extrapolates from the Bible's ambiguity that homosexuality should be allowable. But how about other alternative sexualities, like celibacy? Maybe we should have more public, liberal-minded advocates of that. But unfortunately, in her closing quotation, Miller takes a stand against the poor celibates.

"Jesus does not want people to be lonely and sad." Let the priest's prayer be our own.
