War is Over If You Want It8/27/2006 21:49:16A few weeks ago I first saw the trailer for the new movie coming out from "the studio that brought you Farenheit 9/11," The U.S. vs. John Lennon. It certainly seems a big over the top as hagiography but perhaps necessarily so. There is nothing we need to hear more now than that there is hope and there is work to do and the work can be done. See the trailer. I have been getting interested in the idea of tax resistance as a way of protesting the vast government spending on weapons. It amazes me how little this has been discussed. It is our money that makes all this killing possible! Of course because of the risks this sort of action would have to be part of a mass movement. But a critical mass might be possible to achieve. Anyhow today more than ever in my little life I feel that theology can only be properly expressed in action, in recognition, in repentance, and for what is left, in thanksgiving. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - |
